How to Read a Slot Pay Table
When you play a slot machine, it’s important to check the pay table. This is where you’ll find out what each symbol pays, what combinations of symbols will win you a jackpot and more. Pay tables usually appear on the machine’s glass or can be accessed through a help screen.
Depending on the game, there may be several pay tables to choose from. A typical one will display the regular symbols that make up the slot, including pictures of them and how much you can win if you land three, four or five matching symbols on a payline (typically a horizontal line). Some pay tables will also list any special symbols, such as Wild and Scatter symbols, together with an explanation of how they work.
In addition to displaying the regular payout values, pay tables will also indicate how many paylines a slot has. This is important, as it can increase your chances of winning if you hit multiple paylines. However, you should keep in mind that a higher number of paylines will increase your risk as well, so it’s important to weigh this against your risk tolerance before choosing a game.
It’s also important to understand that just because you see someone else hit a big jackpot doesn’t mean that your turn will be next. Each machine is going through thousands of different combinations every minute, so the odds of hitting a specific combination at exactly that one-hundredth of a second are incredibly small.
